CB: Andrea Barzagli 7/10

This was a slow day for Juve’s defense. As such, Barzagli didn’t have to do much in the match, but the old man was reliable as always for Juve. He made 2 tackles and 2 clearances and avoided any major errors on his 71 passes. We won’t see Barzagli as frequently as we are used to this year, but if he continues to stay at this level then we can expect to see plenty of him when Juve needs to rest other defenders.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci 7.5/10

With only 1 tackle and 1 clearance it was an especially easy day for Bonucci on the defensive end, but that didn’t stop him from making his presence felt. He played a long ball to Paulo Dybala in the 5th minute that was absolutely perfect and led to Dybala’s first goal of the day. It was a reminder of what Bonucci brings to the table that Juve’s other center backs weren’t able to last year. While this match wasn’t as important as the Napoli match on Saturday, this performance helps start to make up for his awful showing in that match.

CB: Medhi Benatia 7.5/10

Benatia was the busiest of Juve’s defenders in this match and he once again made his case for more playing time. He made 2 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 clearances and kept Juve from having to deal with any kind of unnecessary attacking threat from Young Boys. Every time Benatia performs like this it will make Juve fans wonder just how much of an upgrade Bonucci really was for this defense.
