Juventus player ratings vs Young Boys: Dybala shines in Ronaldo’s absence
By John Vaccaro
CAM: Federico Bernardeschi 7.5/10
Federico Bernardeschi continues to impress for Juve this year. He has had a breakout start to the season on the right wing, so Massimiliano Allegri decided to give him a new challenge in this one. He moved Bernardeschi into an attacking midfield position and Bernardeschi unsurprisingly impressed yet again. He was constantly involved in dangerous attacks for Juve, picking out the right passes time after time. He made 2 key passes in the match and registered a shot on target. Bernardeschi showed today that not only is he an extremely talented winger, but also a versatile attacking option. I’m more impressed with Bernardeschi with every appearance he makes.
ST: Mario Mandzukic 7/10
This was a surprising performance for Mandzukic. He scored a brace against Napoli on Saturday and has been in pretty good form this season, but didn’t do much in this one. He only had 30 touches in 77 minutes and didn’t even register a shit in the match. Before this match I thought it had all of the makings of a good day for Mandzukic, but it was a pretty pedestrian showing from him in this one.
ST: Paulo Dybala 10/10
Paulo Dybala was phenomenal in this match. it didn’t answer the questions about how he will fit in Juve’s regular lineup, but on this day Juve couldn’t have asked for any more from him. The volley on the first goal was flawless. His hustle got him the second. More hustle gave him goal 3. He was by the far the most dangerous player on the pitch in this match and at times it seemed like Juve never even needed anybody else on the ball. This was just an incredible performance from Dybala and this was much more like the Dybala that Juve fans have gotten used to than the player has been the rest of the season. Dybala earned the man of the match in this one and will make it tough for Allegri to leave him out of the lineup in the future.
