Juventus player ratings vs Young Boys: Dybala shines in Ronaldo’s absence
By John Vaccaro
Emre Can 6/10
This was a slow day for Can. He came on at halftime in a match Juve was already in complete control of. Juve didn’t really need him to do much by the time he came on and it seemed like Dybala didn’t even really need a midfield behind him in this one. Can didn’t play badly, he just failed to make an impact here.
Sami Khedira 6/10
Like Can, Khedira wasn’t asked to do much in this match. He was brought on to keep the midfield stable defensively, but didn’t need to do much defending because Juve controlled possession in the match. He did have one chance to make an impact, but whiffed when he tried to strike a ball in the box. It was a short day for Khedira and wasn’t all that impressive.
Moise Kean 6.5/10

I was glad to see Kean make his first appearance of the season in this match. He’s a promising prospect for Juve and they should be giving him chances whenever they can. Even in a blowout Kean was constantly working to create openings in the defense. He didn’t have much time to work with, but he put in a good effort his 17 minutes.
Massimiliano Allegri 9.5/10
The half point deduction might just be me being picky, but I really don’t like that Juve consistently coasts once they have a lead. They let a 10-man Napoli hang around over the weekend and they seemed to take their foot off the gas in this one too. It hasn’t mattered yet, but in the knockout stages of the Champions League it could come back to haunt them. They need to keep up the intensity even when a match seems to be over. Other than that Allegri did a great job here. Juve was short-handed and he put together a great lineup for this one. Even without many of the team’s best players Juve excelled in this match.
Allegri’s tactical flexibility for this match was impressive and is something that will be useful as Juve tries to conquer 3 competitions.
