#5 Diego Maradona

Football is a man’s game, and its mandatory to have a good physique so that you don’t get clobbered by the opposition. Well, Diego Maradona was the first homuncular superstar to quash this thinking and stamp his authority in the world of football.

The Argentinian might not have had a tall stature, but he made up for his drawbacks with his incredible dribbling, vision and technique. His low center of gravity allowed him to be one of the nimblest players of his generation. He left the audiences lost for words with his ability to bulldoze past the sturdiest of defenders with utmost ease.

Maradona’s greatest achievement was leading Argentina to the World Cup victory single-handedly all throughout the competition. No wonder why he lifted the award for the FIFA Player of the 20th Century alongside Pele.

While his style of play hardly leaves a loophole behind to be criticized, his trophy haul surely does.
In spite of being the best footballer during his times, Maradona never clinched the Ballon d’Or and the European Cup. He won only 3 league titles in his entire career.

Since a glittering trophy cabinet defines a lot about your career and the fact that Diego Maradona falls miserably short of others when it comes to collective laurels, he is placed low on this list.
