CM: Blaise Matuidi

Blaise Matuidi’s versatility has been on constant display this year for Juventus. He has been a nonstop defensive nuisance and has even added another option in attack from time to time. He has scored 2 goals this year and 2 of Paulo Dybala’s 4 goals for this season have been scored on rebounds from Matuidi’s shots. Matuidi will keep Juve solid defensively for this match, but against Udinese he’ll even get to drift forward a little bit again. We might even see him get the chance to match his Serie A goal tally from all of last year in just his 7th appearance of the year.

CM: Emre Can

I’ll try this one again. I thought Can would step into Miralem Pjanic’s role against Young Boys on Tuesday because Pjanic needed a rest. That didn’t happen, but Pjanic has now started 5 consecutive matches for Juve. He could use a day off and Juve should give Can a chance to shine here. He has shown the passing ability to create chances for Juve and Udinese is the perfect opportunity to see if he can do it as the main creator in the midfield. Juve needs to start giving the young guys more chances in league mismatches and this league mismatch should be Can’s first shot to really show his skill.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur

Rodrigo Bentancur is still struggling to work his way into form. It’s hard to blame him though, he has only started twice and only played the full 90 minutes once. That should change soon with Sami Khedira set to miss a few more weeks. Juve’s schedule doesn’t get any less packed after the international break and that will mean plenty of opportunities for Bentancur to play since Juve will need to rotate their 4 healthy center midfielders quite often. Bentancur is a good young player and opportunities like these will make him an asset for Juve sooner than later.
