LB: Alex Sandro 8.5/10

We have still yet to see an impressive attacking performance from Alex Sandro, but he was awesome defensively in this match. He was a brick wall against Udinese, He contributed an incredible 6 tackles and 4 interceptions and cleared Udinese’s best chance off the line in the second half. This was Sandro’s best performance of the year and it was a big part of Juve earning their 5th clean sheet in 6 matches.

CB: Giorgio Chiellini 7.5/10

Giorgio Chiellini did exactly what you expect from Giorgio Chiellini in this match. There was nothing spectacular about his performance, but he did pitch in with a tackle and 4 interceptions. At one point he did look like he’d been beaten on the counterattack, but he made the smart play and dragged Lasagna back. It’s that kind of veteran savvy that keeps Chiellini amongst the top center backs in the world.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci 7.5/10

The story of Bonucci’s match was pretty similar to Chiellini’s. He didn’t do anything spectacular, but his 2 interceptions, 2 tackles, and 2 clearances were a solid contribution to the Juve defense. This was a big improvement over his last appearance in the league where he gifted Napoli a goal. This match may have put him one step closer to hearing Juve fans sing his name again.

RB: Joao Cancelo 9/10

Hot take: Joao Cancelo was Juve’s most important signing this summer. Outside of a season with Dani Alves it has been very rare for Juve to consider the right back position a strength. Joao Cancelo has completely changed that. He has been absolutely incredible for Juve this season. In this match alone he contributed 4 tackles, 5 key passes, and an assist. He also nearly added another assist when he hustled to keep a ball in play and set Mandzukic up perfectly to score. Cancelo has been a force on both ends of the field. Every match Cancelo plays makes me more and more excited to see what the 24 year old’s future has in store.
