Juventus player ratings vs. Udinese: Cancelo puts on a show
By John Vaccaro
LW: Cristiano Ronaldo 8/10
This wasn’t quite the incredible show Ronaldo put on against Napoli, but Ronaldo had another good match and managed to add to his Juve goal tally in the process. He put 3 shots on target and made a key pass in the match. As usual, he was the most dangerous option from Juve’s attacking trident and gave Udinese’s defense something to worry about throughout the match. The finish on his goal was beautiful and now he’ll get a couple of weeks off before he needs to perform again.
ST: Mario Mandzukic 8/10
Mario Mandzukic has been fantastic for Juve this year. He is constantly working when he is on the field and he made it count yet again in this match. He used his strength to create the opportunity for Ronaldo’s goal. He also made 2 other key passes in the match and got himself in position to score a goal, but was stopped by a great save from Scuffet. Mandzukic has been an integral part of the Juve attack this season and it was no different in this match. The great form he is in right now makes a potent Juve attack even more dangerous. He gets a well deserved rest now before trying to put on another good performance against Genoa on the other side of the international break.
RW: Paulo Dybala 7/10
I’m really getting tired of having to write analysis about Dybala’s performances playing on the wing. None of them have been good and any match he starts on the right wing just prevents Federico Bernardeschi from getting the playing time he deserves. Dybala was once again unable to make a real impact playing on the wing and it becomes clearer with every match that simply doesn’t fit in the 4-3-3. We’ve gotten a couple of great performances from Dybala recently when he is deployed as a second striker, but those performances haven’t translated here. Bernardeschi is much better suited to this position and I would much rather see him get these starts. Hopefully Allegri makes that a reality after the international break.
