Emre Can 6.5/10

Can once again was unable to really make a mark on a match as a halftime sub. He did manage to make 2 tackles, but didn’t really add much to the attack.  He should be starting more frequently to give Matuidi and Pjanic chances to rest, but performances like these won’t help him break into the starting lineup.

Federico Bernardeschi 7/10

Bernardeschi came on for Paulo Dybala in the second half and quickly made more an impact than Dybala. Shortly after his introduction he forced a save from Scuffet and played Mandzukic in for a scoring chance. He continues to look great in his appearances this season and should be rewarded with more playing time. It doesn’t seem like Allegri wants to start Bernardeschi regularly, so I guess we should just all hope he gets a couple of starts with Italy during the international break.

Andrea Barzagli: Incomplete

More from Serie A

Barzagli’s performance was too short to grade and he didn’t have the chance to do much in this match. There will be plenty of matches that Barzagli plays a key role in this season. This match just wasn’t one of them.

Massimiliano Allegri 7/10

I know I’m harping on this issue, but seriously, Bernardeschi should’ve started this match. I honestly don’t see any benefit to the 65 pedestrian minutes Dybala played in this match. It would’ve been way more useful to give Bernardeschi a chance to develop instead of giving Dybala a chance to lose some of the confidence he gained during the week. I also still think that Juve needs more of a killer instinct when they have a lead. They don’t quite push to score after they have a lead and it’s something that could become an issue against better teams. We saw it a few years ago when Allegri tried to hold a lead against Bayern in the Champions League round of 16. Juve should try to crush one or two of these teams just to get the experience of pushing to score for a full 90 minutes.

I know these things seem kind of picky, but Allegri will need to clean up some of these issues to keep the perfect start going.
