Manchester City and Liverpool got a point each following their 0-0 draw at the Anfield on the Premier League’s match day eight clash.

The champions of the Premier League in Manchester City were held to a 0-0 draw by the challengers to their title, Liverpool. It was a first such result by a goalless score line at Liverpool’s home since 1986. Riyad Mahrez’s penalty could have given Manchester City a victory at the Anfield for the first time since 2003, but the Algeria international sent his attempt flying over the goalpost.

The result by no means defies the gameplay of a match that was nothing short of dramatic. A stalemate between the two means that all three early contenders to the Premier League- Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are now level at twenty points in the standings, making it an even more enticing race to the top. In an outing that only missed a goal, let’s have a look at the three things we learnt.

Liverpool must convert their chances to challenge for the title

Liverpool have to take their chances if they want to challenge realistically for a first Premier League title. The Reds had the same story that was against Chelsea and could have easily won both of their matches against the Premier League’s blue giants. Not taking chances has cost Klopp’s men a position as outright leaders in the league.

Mohamed Salah is in all probability going to endure a lacklustre campaign, but Mane and Bobby have been creating chances just like midfield. Unfortunately, the Champions League’s silver medallists from last season lack a finishing touch in front of the goal. Finishing is the only problem in an otherwise sorted side.
