International break catch-up: Five takeaways from Arsenal’s season so far

5. Offence is the best defence
Is it really an analysis piece without mentioning the fearful attack? They’ve been too good not to!
Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil have worked in perfect harmony this year, with all three getting off to good starts. Ozil isn’t quite as assist-orientated as he once was, but his creative spark is still there, and he’s also getting on the score sheet more frequently. This is good news for Arsenal, as many expected him to struggle given the season he had.

Aubameyang has inevitably been good. He’s been pushed out wide to make room for Lacazette, but he’s still made the most of his chances. It’s not ideal for him, granted, but he did come on in the last match against Fulham and pick up a brace. Not bad at all.
Lacazette just picked up Arsenal’s player of the month and goal of the month award for September. He thoroughly deserved it too. Not only has been good on a goal scoring front, but he’s helped the team in other ways. He has looked to drop deep and help with progressive attacking play, while also winning the ball back from his opposition in midfield.
To conclude, Arsenal’s season has been overall really good. There are obviously areas for improvement, but nine wins out of the last nine games doesn’t warrant any bad vibes. I expect Unai Emery to keep up the tempo, and for Arsenal to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
