#2:  Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (Lazio)

Serbian midfield powerhouse Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been making waves in the football world since the last season. The 23-year-old midfielder was one of the first names on the wishlist of giants like Real Madrid in the summer. However, he decided to pour cold water on the hopes of the heavyweights after deciding to stay put with Lazio.

His intensified links with Manchester United are quite understandable since Jose Mourinho travelled to Serbia vs Montenegro game. Milinkovic-Savic put up an impressive display for his nation as a substitute, setting up Aleksandr Mitrovic’s goal in the final 10 minutes with a backheel assist as the Serbians emerged victorious at the end of stoppage time.

Sergej Milinkovoc Savic has the kind of qualities that would send any manager licking his lips with relish at the prospect of having him in the team. The Serbian could be an asset to any club he plays for, given his superb ability to contribute equally well in defence as well as on attacks.

In the offensive sphere, he is great with setting up attacks with long passes, making 2.4 long ball passes per game. He makes 1.1 key passes per game and also likes doing layoffs.
In the defensive sphere, he is a fine tackler, making 1.3 tackles per game. He also notches 1.3 clearances per game.

Should he come to Old Trafford, no doubt Sergej Milinkovic-Savic would add tremendous physicality to an already strong side and beef up the midfield. However, only time will tell whether the Red Devils, who tried signing him in summer, do succeed in getting his signature or just watch the history repeat itself.
