4. Winning the Champions League with FC Barcelona
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Arsenal have become accustomed to losing their star players to Barcelona, so it’s no biggie to look back on. Obviously, at the time, it was heart wrenching, but at that point Henry had achieved everything he could have done at Arsenal.
It was time for a new adventure, and he of course had his eyes set on the Champions League. He wanted to make amends to himself for his poor Champions League display against none other than Barcelona, but this time he would do it WITH Barca, not against them.
And he did just that. In 2009, Henry won the hearts of many (again). He lifted the one thing missing from his illustrious trophy cabinet – the Champions League. It’s known as the biggest trophy at club-level, and rightly so. There’s a reason why a club as big as Arsenal is yet to get their hands on it; because it requires immense graft.
During his time with Barcelona, he worked alongside some immense players. There’s the obvious Lionel Messi, but also the likes of Ronaldinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Samuel Eto’o, and the list goes on. I know, the nostalgia is real!
He could have easily become a one-club man, and he would have gone down in the hearts of every single Arsenal fan (I mean, he still does, but you get what I mean). Instead, he broadened his horizons, and in my eyes, he deserves immense respect for that.
