Harry Kane has been right up there among the Premier League’s top scorers in recent years. He is undoubtedly among the world’s best strikers at the moment.

England played out two fixtures in the international break, both of which were UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain. Against the former, the English managed to draw 0-0 but got a 3-2 win in Spain against most expectations. Raheem Sterling scored a brace in Seville while Marcus Rashford scored another.

However, the primary proponent in the match was Tottenham Hotspur striker and the Three Lions’ skipper- Harry Kane. The 25-year-old was not among those finding the back of the net in this one, but provided two very good assists during the match and gave the Spanish defenders a night to forget at the Benito Villamarin Stadium.

Nacho Fernandez and Sergio Ramos were the two central defenders, who were caught cold by the 25-year-old’s superb movement in the final third. Ramos, who is so good at keeping an offside trap, was made a minnow by Kane’s smart runs and other aspects of his game in mainly the passing and stationing which stood out.

More from Real Madrid

The Real Madrid and Spain captain was impressed by the 25 year old even ahead of the fixture and would have certainly been impressed by his performance on Monday night after introspecting through the loss. Luka Modric also praised the Spurs striker after his national side’s 0-0 draw in Rijeka last week.

“If you look at the number of goals he is scoring for Tottenham, he’s taken them into the Premier League title race, which isn’t easy because other clubs are investing more money,” he said. “He’s proved himself as one of the world’s best forwards already. If he continues to develop, he can achieve even more, but he’s already one of the best in the world.”

Opinion

It has been visible through the body language and reactions of the Whites’ players that they were left short of words after Kane’s stunning displays. As it is, Los Blancos have been monitoring him since a long time and are keen on buying him from Tottenham after the lack of goals they have scored since Ronaldo’s exit.

But they will surely have to dig deep and come up with a convincing offer to galvanize Daniel Levy, the Spurs’ chairman who is a notorious negotiator and Harry Kane, who has ambitions of spending his entire career with the north Londoners. If they do strike an agreement though, Real Madrid will have purchased someone who guarantees nearly 30-40 goals per season and that will be a massive boost for them.
