Alvaro Morata: Striker, Chelsea

More from Serie A

This move probably doesn’t seem to make much sense and will be met with some skepticism, but it’s one Juventus should really consider if the price is right. Morata’s time at Chelsea hasn’t been the rousing success fans were hoping for when the club signed him for a record fee.

However, he hasn’t been quite as hopeless as fans make it seem and there is a chance that he is just struggling with the role he plays.

At Juventus we saw Morata find success in a similar role to the one Paulo Dybala thrived in, paired with another striker that he could play off of. Juve wouldn’t be able to fit him in the starting lineup for big matches, but he would get plenty of chances to play for Juve in the second half of this season.

Right now Morata needs to get his confidence back more than anything and Juve could give him plenty of opportunities to do just that in a strike partnership when resting Ronaldo and Mandzukic. If Juve were to sign both Morata and Piatek they would form a perfect duo, with both being capable finishers inside the box and smart teammates who could make runs that open up space for the other. If Juve doesn’t land Piatek then he’d still fit at Juve as we’ve already seen him have success alongside both Ronaldo and Mandzukic in the past.

With all of that being said, this move is wholly dependent on Morata’s price tag. Chelsea spent a ton of money to bring him in a year and a half ago, but if he continues to struggle this season then they may decide to just take what they can get for him and move on to another option up front. if this is the case then Juve should gamble on Massimiliano Allegri once again being able to get the best out of Morata.

If we even get a glimpse of the player that seemed unstoppable in the 2014-15 Champions League knockout stages then this move would absolutely be worth the risk.
