The transfer period is always a very exciting one in the summer and winter. Three of Europe’s biggest clubs could be set to create a domino effect in the market.

Real Madrid were raided by Juventus when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo for a reported fee of 100 million pounds. It is now being claimed that the Old Lady of Turin is interested in signing Ronaldo’s partner in crime and best friend from Madrid- Marcelo. The left back has been on the radar of the Italian champions since Ronaldo’s signing.

However, they are now seeking to realise their interest with Alex Sandro’s future unclear. The 27-year-old has a contract at the Allianz Stadium that lasts until June 2020. While Juventus are ready with an offer to extend it, Sandro has not been committing his future amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

More from Real Madrid

The Blues have been linked with a move for the Juventus star since the last few months, with this year’s January connection being the strongest of them as they were looking to provide competition to Marcos Alonso. However, Juventus did manage to hold onto their superstar while Chelsea settled for Emerson Palmieri from AS Roma.

The Red Devils were looking for options in the market as well, but Luke Shaw has come back in Jose Mourinho’s favour and signed a contract renewal at the Old Trafford, which will see him being in association with Manchester United until June 2023. Meanwhile, Juventus are reported to be keen on Barcelona’s Jordi Alba if Marcelo is not interested in moving.

The 30-year-old has a contract at the Camp Nou until June 2020 but similar to Juventus’ Alex Sandro, Alba has been hesitant in committing his future to the Catalans.

Opinion

At the end of the spectrum, it does not seem like Real Madrid will be letting Marcelo leave. He is the world’s left back and a superb leader. Chelsea already have Marcos Alonso, so getting Alex Sandro and benching one of the two will be a daft move, and the Blues will very well be aware of that. Meanwhile, Manchester United have already gotten Luke Shaw to stay put and signing Sandro will hinder his growth. In a nutshell, it seems like a rumour just made to sell the papers and there should be no outcomes whatsoever.
