Left Back- Jordi Alba- 7/10

It was a pretty makeshift display by Jordi Alba who linked up beautifully with Lionel Messi until the Argentine’s withdrawal. After Messi went out, Alba stayed back more often than he does probably because he cannot orchestrate the Messi-like chemistry with Ousmane Dembele. The former Valencia defender made a few defensive clearances in what was a decent display.

Centre Back- Clement Lenglet- 7/10

Similar to the rest of his defensive partners, Clement Lenglet delivered a functional display at the back against his former club. He was unfortunate to have seen Pablo Sarabia’s shot from long range to deflect off him and into the back of the net, which the referee Martinez Munuera harshly rewarded as an own goal. Lenglet must take the positives from this display however as he faces a difficult week ahead of him.

Centre Back- Gerard Pique- 8/10

A good display from Gerard Pique was something that the Barcelona faithful had longed for since many weeks and we finally saw that against Sevilla. What was most important was how Pique stationed himself. The former Spain international stayed behind without looking clueless and going forward. In addition, he man-marked Wissam Ben Yedder superbly and made him virtually invisible throughout the game.

Right Back- Nelson Semedo- 6.5/10

Nelson Semedo looked confident while going ahead and played a crucial role in the build up to Barcelona’s first goal which was a slick move finished off by Coutinho. Defensively also he did make a few vital interceptions but left Barcelona’s right side vulnerable on a few instances and struggled against Arana who attacked from the left flank of Sevilla’s five man midfield.
