Defensive Midfielder- Sergio Busquets- 7.5/10

It is not very often that we see an average display from Sergio Busquets. Unfortunately, that was visible against Sevilla although Barcelona need not worry about his form. Busquets did not make too many spot on tackles as per his standards and ended up fouling in his attempts to slide into players. He was lucky to have ended the match without being booked. However, he did show his class by keeping his cool and using his experience to nullify two Sevilla midfielders who’d usually come at him through the centre.

Right Midfielder- Ivan Rakitic- 8/10

Ivan Rakitic has taken the incentive of pulling the strings following Andres Iniesta’s departure and did so beautifully against Sevilla too. The Croatia international did slow down in the latter stages of the match due to fatigue and tiredness and it was a pity that he could not be subbed off as Valverde had used all of his changes. Nonetheless, he scored a great volley with sublime technique against his former club to all but ensure that the three points stayed with El Blaugrana.

Left Midfielder- Arthur Melo- 7/10

Arthur Melo was handed yet another start by Ernesto Valverde as the Brazilian youngster looks to have made the left midfielder’s role his own after Coutinho has pushed forward to the left wing. The 21 year old looked extremely mature on the ball and played the entire game with an attacking mindset and great passing which displayed Barcelona’s traditional philosophies. It was a good display from him and he’d hope to be on the same level or improve against Inter and Real Madrid.
