Mesut Ozil was the talk of the football world last night, as he was the star man in Arsenal’s ‘sexy’ display against Leicester City. His words, not mine.

Mesut Ozil is a star, we all know that. No matter what the media tries to persuade you, his talent on the pitch will speak otherwise 99% of the time. Last night was no different, as the play-maker captained Arsenal to victory against Leicester City.

Ozil started the game off the front foot. He was always looking to act as the bridge with the ball at his feet, constantly playing the short passes to his attacking counterparts. It was his early start which inspired the Gunners, although they did suffer bad luck.

Ben Chilwell looked to play a ball through the box, but instead, it came off the ankle of Hector Bellerin, and the deflection of the ball defeated Bernd Leno, who was committed to being in the right place for the cross.

It looked like Arsenal would go into the half 1-0 down, but up stepped Mesut Ozil. It was an unorthodox finish into the far corner, but it was one which he made to look simple with his infamous left foot.

I said this last night, but it was Ozil’s leading by example which inspired his teammates to go out and clinch the victory. Because he was again involved in the second goal, as he played a perfect through ball to Hector Bellerin, who grabbed his second assist of the night as he squared it to the substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

I have literally no words to describe that third goal. If you haven’t seen it yet, then you need to watch it. But you’ll need to have 10 showers afterwards because it really is filthy…

All in all, it was an emphatic display. And as always, Twitter was the place to be amidst all the action. Here are some of the highlights…

The Arsenal fans inevitably won Twitter again with their thread reminding the world about Mesut Ozil.

It takes a lot to impress Kasper Schmeichel.

The play-maker even gave some of the Arsenal fans flashbacks.

At least the Leicester boys took Ozil’s performance in good heart.
