Arsenal hosted Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium last night, and my word, what an emphatic showing that was.

In perhaps the best showing from any Premier League team this season, Arsenal wiped away the Foxes. It didn’t look like it would be the case after going 1-0 down early on, but Unai Emery’s never say die spirit prevailed. Here are five lessons we can take from this display.

1. Let’s address the goat in the room

Two words: Mesut Ozil.

Last night was a performance to remember from the play-maker, with many claiming that this performance alone warrants his hefty price tag (at the time), along with his excessive wages. If you watch him closely, he actually plays like this in most matches, but last night everything just came off for him.

He was the captain of the night, and while many criticised this decision heading into the match, I don’t think anybody would have heading out of the match.

He’s had a tough summer, but he’s showing his true colours under Unai Emery. He had a good running last month, scoring two consecutive goals, however, his form reached a stalemate. A performance like Ozil showed last night is worthy of kicking any player into form, so be sure to watch the superstar throughout the rest of the season.

The papers who are known for criticising him will have a quiet day at the office today, but don’t be fooled, Mesut Ozil showed his class, as he does time and time again.
