Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t end up making the difference in his return to Old Trafford, but Juventus still left Manchester with a commanding 5 point lead atop Group H.

Juventus was in control of this match from the start and it didn’t take long for them to open the scoring. in the 17th minute Cristiano Ronaldo sent in a cross that Juan Cuadrado managed to redirect to Paulo Dybala who had a ton of space in the middle of the box. He finished perfectly, netting his 4th goal in 2 Champions League matches and putting juventus in the drivers seat.

There wasn’t much of note for the rest of the match. Juventus continued to dominate the match after the goal, but was only able to create one more good chance. David De Gea was called into action to make an incredible save to keep out a shot from Ronaldo. Paul Pogba also nearly scored a goal, but was denied by the post (and Wojciech Szczesny’s head).

The win puts Juventus in clear control of their group. They are now 5 points ahead of Manchester United and 7 points ahead of Valencia. This was one of their best performances of the year and they couldn’t asked for it come at a better time.

GK: Wojciech Szczesny 7/10

Szczesny wasn’t called into action as frequently in this match as some might have expected, but he did play well when he was needed. He saved the only 2 shots on target that he faced and kept his 3rd consecutive Champions League clean sheet. As usual, there wasn’t much to this one for Szczesny and David De Gea definitely outshone him in the match, but it was another solid day’s work for Szczesny.
