Unai Emery is very self-aware, and he’ll be the first to admit when there is a problem. That said, it’s no surprise to see Arsenal monitoring a left back.
One of the main reasons Arsenal signed Unai Emery is his awareness. His constant use of video analysis enables him to know what is happening at every given moment. He will notice the flaws and the strengths of his side, and it’s been personified once more.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal is monitoring Nicolas Tagliafico. The left-back has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, but nothing has materialised. One thing’s for sure, he is worthy of playing for an even bigger club.

In case you didn’t know, Ajax has been in great form in the Eredivisie this season. However, of their immensely talented squad, Tagliafico has been one of the standout performers. Particularly in their first Champions League match, Tagliafico has been impressive both as an attacking full-back and a defensive one.
This is something in which Arsenal needs. With Nacho Monreal ageing, and Sead Kolasinac constantly on the treatment table, the club needs to invest in a full-back which can bomb the flank and make it his own.
An added bonus is that Tagliafico can also slot in at centre-back if required. Although his main position is undeniably on the left-hand side, his defensive ability and awareness enable him to do a job at centre-back. Hopefully, the Gunners won’t need to resort to this, though!
However, there is competition for places. Although he may not bring a smile to Arsenal fans’ faces, Alberto Moreno is also being monitored, according to the Mirror.
I wouldn’t be too pessimistic about this deal should it come off. He may not be the most popular figure at Liverpool, but Unai Emery knows how to get the best out of him. He was a key component to Emery’s European powerhouses in Sevilla, as they enjoyed a healthy working relationship for the most part.
Do you think Arsenal need to sign a left back primarily, or are there any other positions they must strengthen fist?
