No, I’m obviously not talking about Chelsea replacing Maurizio Sarri. But if Julen Lopetegui is given the boot from Real Madrid, the London club could be in with some money.
Chelsea are loving life under Maurizio Sarri. The Italian has taken over superbly from a, let’s say, less popular Italian. Antonio Conte and Chelsea parted ways in the summer after he lifted the FA Cup as a tribute. But since then, the London club hasn’t looked back.
A club who is facing a different fate currently is Real Madrid. They aren’t too happy with their managerial situation, and rightly so. Julen Lopetegui has won just four La Liga games, as Los Blancos sit in seventh place of the league. While this is by no means a crisis, by Real Madrid’s standards, this definitely isn’t normal.

In case you didn’t know, a man who is rumoured to be in line to land the Madrid opening should it become available is Chelsea’s former boss, Antonio Conte. The Italian has been out of work for only a few months, but it will have given him plenty of time to re-evaluate his outlook on the game.
According to reports from The Sun, Chelsea could be in line for a nice £9.5m payment should Real Madrid opt for Antonio Conte. This is due to an agreement between the parties when Chelsea gave Conte the boot.
However, it’s not set-in-stone that Antonio Conte will be appointed as Real Madrid manager. As previously reported, Santiago Solari is also a contender to replace Lopetegui. As the manager of Madrid’s B-team, and trusted former player of theirs, many fans are favouring a move for Solari.
It doesn’t look likely that any moves will happen before the big El Clasico fixture this weekend. Real Madrid looked impressive during their Champions League affair with Plzen, picking up a much-needed win as a confidence booster. Many believe this will be Lopetegui’s last match in charge. Chelsea fans, you had best keep an eye on this saga!
In my opinion, Antonio Conte would make a great manager at Real Madrid. Even if the appointment is just a stopgap until the Madrid officials come up with a long-term plan. We saw in Conte’s first season in England just how quick he can change a team’s morale, so Madrid will be hoping this is the case should they appoint him.
Do you think Real Madrid should appoint Antonio Conte or Santiago Solari?
