Paris Saint-Germain would be travelling to The Stade Vélodrome to face their longtime rivals Olympique Marseille on Sunday in the first “Le Classique” of this season.

Le Classique or The French Classico is one of the most awaited and interesting games that take place in Ligue 1. Two French Giants, PSG & Marseille are always on loggerheads be it on the pitch or off of it. These games generally end with fans of both teams being arrested by the local police and in some situations, the clubs banning these supporters from entering the stadiums.

Since the Qatari takeover back in 2011, PSG’s squad has grown stronger with each passing year. Meanwhile, Marseille, though not as strong as PSG, have had a decent run over the last few years and have proved to be competent underdogs when it comes to playing in big games such as this one.

Despite having a 9 point lead over Marseille, winning this game for PSG would be a matter of prestige and it’s up to their new coach Thomas Tuchel to guide his team to his first Le Classique win.

Let us have a look at how Les Rouge-et-Bleu might Line up for one of the most important games of this season.

Goalkeeper – Alphonse Areola

Thomas Tuchel will always be faced with making a very tough decision as to which goalkeeper to start. On one hand, there is Alphonse Areola, who has been exceptional since the start of the season and on the other its none other than Gianluigi Buffon, the goalkeeping legend himself.

Having featured in 10 games for club and country this season and bagging 4 clean sheets and a Man of the Match, Alphonse Areola has made some mesmerizing saves and performed really well in PSG’s last game against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League. Even Buffon has been won over by Areola’s talent and it seems most likely that Tuchel will stick to having the Frenchman between the posts.
