Real Madrid put in a dominant display in their game against Melilla on Wednesday. Here’s a look at the player ratings…
Real Madrid defeated Melilla 4-0 to get a step closer to the last 16 of the Copa del Rey after their first leg outing against Luis Carrion. Karim Benzema scored a tap in to round off a great attacking move with nearly half an hour on the clock and Marco Asensio doubled the lead on the cusp of half time. Alvaro Odriozola scored his first Real Madrid goal from close range to make it 3-0 and Cristo Gonzalez added a fourth in the second half’s injury time. Both the second half scorers got their first goals for Real Madrid.
The Whites put in a dominant display in spite of having some of their most prominent names absent either through injury or rest and got a comfortable victory in the north of Africa in the autonomous Spanish town. Let’s take a look at the Whites’ player ratings from the game.
Goalkeeper- Keylor Navas- 6/10
Keylor Navas got picked ahead of Thibaut Courtois for the cup tie between the Whites and Melilla. The Costa Rica international did not have any work to do on the night in all honesty, and hence gets a 6 out of 10. Navas kept a clean sheet, which was his third of the season in six appearances and looked good at the back despite having just two really tame shots on his goal. However, the former Levante goalie did initiate counter attacks through his long throws and volleys, a prominent feature of Santiago Solari’s gameplay.
