In spite of not having a permanent manager installed after Julen Lopetegui’s sacking last week, Real Madrid are planning their January transfer business.
Real Madrid’s life after Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane has not been impressive and the Whites find themselves out of the top four in La Liga Santander with 11 matches being played so far. During the process, the Whites have let in as many as 14 goals- an absolutely pathetic stat for a team of their calibre.
Getting the goals has been an issue for them and so, they will invest money in a goal scoring player sooner or later. However, the Whites are also in need of a central defender keeping in mind that Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane and Nacho Fernandez are the only three options available. Jesus Vallejo is there too, but with poor experience and a propensity to get injured often, the Spaniard is sparingly used.

As a result, the European champions are looking to hire Marc Bartra’s service in order to salvage something from the season after a horrible start, according to the Express UK. The 27-year-old is currently on the books of Real Betis, having signed for the Seville based club in January this year.
Given his quality, the Madrid fans’ community will welcome him open handily in spite of his prior association with arch rivals Barcelona. Marc Bartra was with the Catalans from 2002 and made his debut for the club aged 19. However, failure to cement a starting berth at the Camp Nou due to the presence of Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano meant that he went to Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
After a difficult spell in Germany as well, the central defender made his return to Spain and has been enjoying his football at the Benito Villamarin. Marc Bartra will be a great addition to Real Madrid and especially because of his wage demands the Whites can also maintain a perfect balance in their accounts. While no transfer fee has been talked of, it should be ideally in the range of 30 million euros if a deal is to fall through.
Marc Bartra’s arrival could signal the end of Jesus Vallejo’s time in the Spanish capital for a few years and the 21-year-old will most probably be sent on several loan spells or be sold to a club with a buyback clause in the deal.
