Barcelona players rated from the Rayo victory: Suarez brace ensures 3 points
Defensive Midfielder- Sergio Busquets- 7/10
Sergio Busquets was stellar in the heart of the midfield during the opening half but looked extremely timid and jaded in the second part of the proceedings. The 30-year-old has been overburdened this season and certainly deserves a rest which does not look likely any time soon, unfortunately. Busquets’ passing in the last game did not look great either and he did lack the zest which he usually is full of. Yet, he did make good work in the defensive part of things.
Left Midfielder- Arthur Melo- 6.5/10
Arthur Melo was likened to Xavi Hernandez over the last few matches and rightly so, but he gave a rather lacklustre display in the centre of the park. Similar to the other of his midfield teammates, Arthur lacked the passing which was expected of him. Most of the times, the ball was being distributed amongst the midfielders itself and the Catalans’ centreline was proving to be a weak link. Luckily, they did manage to come up with a win or the midfielders would have undergone a lot of carping.
Right Midfielder- Ivan Rakitic- 6.5/10
Rakitic was the on the same level as Arthur during the game and did not look very good in the entirety of the game. The Croatian centreman did pull the strings but looked weak and tired in the match. Rakitic would go down easily and it seemed like he was in need of a rest. After a pathetic display by his midfielders, Valverde has to rotate his players otherwise he risks losing them to injuries.
