Defensive Midfielder- Casemiro- 7/10
The Brazil international churned out a laborious display against La Pucelas. Casemiro did not look anything close to his usual self over the last few matches when he was caught out of position and making rash challenges. In the Real Valladolid game, the 26 year old was a lot more conductive and did help the Whites in nullifying Valladolid’s attacking prowess. Casemiro won some great aerial duels in addition to making some good tackles. He was subbed off later for Isco when the score was 0-0 as the hosts started to show some urgency.
Right Midfielder- Luka Modric- 8/10
Luka Modric’s recital was expected to improve after some ample amount of rest. The Croatia international did get the deserved loll when Real Madrid visited Melilla last week and paid it off with a great performance in front of the Bernabeu on Saturday. Modric dictated the play superbly and was extremely pivotal as the Whites switched flanks and also when they counter attacked. If the 33 year old can string together such performances on a consistent basis, then we could be in for a treat.
Left Midfielder- Toni Kroos- 7.5/10
Toni Kroos’ role in Santiago Solari’s setup is basically to distribute the ball and trying to inquest the opponent’s goal from far out. The Germany international fulfilled his manager’s demands and passed the ball around really well. His primary task went realized with an accuracy of 94%, a rather flying percentage. Kroos didn’t really impress with his shots and saw two of them rebound off Valladolid’s well organised backline. If Kroos can play in an advanced position regularly, then he could choreograph his goal scoring touch which he does with Germany.
