GK: Wojciech Szczesny

Wojciech Szczesny has been fantastic when called upon by Juventus this season and once again showed why he is the clear choice to start when he kept out Leonardo Pavoletti’s close range strike to keep Juve ahead in the first half against Cagliari. He has yet to make a clear error for Juve this seasoned will continue to hold the job as long as he keeps playing at this high level.

CB: Giorgio Chiellini

Juventus will be absolutely thrilled to have their captain back after he missed the last two matches because of his injury. Juve failed to keep a clean sheet in either of those matches with Giorgio Chiellini missing and also couldn’t keep one against Genoa before the first Manchester United match. The defense has looked shaky in his absence and his return will hopefully bring some stability to the back line at just the right time. Having Chiellini back in the lineup will play a huge part in Juve’s effort to win this group.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci

I was really torn on this selection. Leonardo Bonucci hasn’t played particularly well lately while Medhi Benatia has returned the form that made him an integral part of last year’s best defense in Serie A. If I was the manager I would be starting Benatia for this match, but I just don’t think it’s a move Allegri will make right now. Bonucci simply hasn’t lived up to the expectations that came along with his return to Juventus. He has looked like a liability at times and has been directly responsible for a couple of big goals scored against Juve. This move hasn’t panned out as advertised, but a solid performance against Manchester United could help turn things around for Bonucci.
