CM: Miralem Pjanic

Miralem Pjanic must be getting tired by now. He has started in each of Juve’s last 10 matches and didn’t even get a rest during the international break. However, he will need to be called on once again in this match due to Juve’s lack of healthy midfield options. He will once again be tasked with acting as Juve’s creator in the midfield, a role he performed well in during the last match against United. Juve will be hoping that fatigue doesn’t become a factor for Pjanic who will likely have to deal with Nemanja Matic’s defending throughout the match.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur

Rodrigo Bentancur has stepped up for Juve at the best time possible. The promising young midfielder has performed very well for Juve while they’ve been shorthanded. He wasn’t supposed to be a regular starter yet for Juve, but has seemingly grown into the role more and more with each match he has played. He didn’t look great in the first match against United, but if his progression throughout the season is any indication then we should be a better version of Bentancur for this match.

CM: Sami Khedira

This one hurts. I really hoped my days of seeing Sami Khedira start Champions League matches were over. Unfortunately, Juventus is desperate right now with Can out and Matuidi’s status up in the air. That means Khedira will probably need to start in the Champions League in his return from injury. He hasn’t looked good at all this season and should be reserved for matches against lesser competition as much as possible. I’m not hopeful about Khedira jumping right into this position, but maybe he’ll surprise us all.
