Alberto Moreno is not the preferred left full back at Liverpool and with a lot of football still ahead of him, the 26-year-old will leave Liverpool next summer.
Alberto Moreno signed for Liverpool from Sevilla in 2014 for a transfer fee of 12 million pounds. After a few years of competing with James Milner for the left back’s role, the Spanish left back has fallen entirely out of favour and finds himself deep down in the pecking order below the amazing Andrew Robertson.

The 26 year old’s contract comes to an end following the end of the 2018/19 campaign and there have been no talks about a renewal between the defender’s representatives and the club. As a result, Sevilla have captured their former player on their radar and are keen on bringing him back to the Spanish top flight.
The Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium based outfit is being considered as the front-runner for the signatures of Alberto Moreno although several other clubs from La Liga have been keeping an eye on him. Earlier reports did claim that the Reds were thinking of getting rid of him in January with Sevilla being interested, however, a source close to the club denied anything such.
Alberto Moreno will be allowed to hold talks with other clubs from January and will probably head back to Spain on a free transfer. After making just four appearances this season and playing only twice in the Premier League between April and November has compelled the left back into taking the decision.
Opinion
Personally I feel that Alberto Moreno’s exit is the perfect happening for the player as well as Liverpool. The Reds have Andrew Robertson who is as good as indispensable and James Milner’s versatility can also allow him to play as the full back. Nonetheless, Liverpool will eye a left back if Moreno actually ends up leaving at the end of this season. The Merseysiders’ only regret will be with letting go of the 26 year old on a free transfer.
