Jose Mourinho wants Alex Sandro at Manchester United ASAP
Jose Mourinho wants to bring Brazilian left-back Alex Sandro to Manchester United as early as January. Sandro has impressed clubs all over Europe since the time he signed for Juventus from Porto in 2015.
Manchester United have one weak spot, their defence. Mourinho has been strengthening the Manchester club since he took over and has made a few good signings over the last three years. The position of left back is one where he hasn’t worked on much and now he seems adamant to increase his options for this post.
A recent report from Italian outlet Calciomercato claims that Mourinho would be willing to spend big in the January transfer window. Jose Mourinho seems to have finally got his way after he was apparently not given sufficient funds to sign the players of his choice. Alex Sandro has been on the radar across Europe and Mourinho may swoop for him sooner or later.

Alex Sandro is out of contract at Juventus in 2020 and his disagreement to extend with The Old Lady has added fuel to the fire. Sandro is currently earning €3 million a year and is asking for more. According to reports, Juventus has offered him a €4 million a year deal in their contract extension offer but the Brazilian yet hasn’t agreed to extend his contract with the Turin club.
European giants like Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and even Manchester United made attempts to sign the Brazilian left-back in the summer but Juventus held on to him. There were rumours of Real Madrid wanting to sign him and offering a direct swap between Sandro and Marcelo, something that seemed very unlikely, even by Real Madrid’s standards.
Over the last two seasons, Alex Sandro has emerged as one of the bests in the game at his position and has naturally attracted multiple suitors all over the continent.
Alex Sandro has made great contributions to Juventus and has helped them win back to back Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia thrice. His presence at the left flank is irreplaceable. Though he is a defender, his attacking abilities are commendable and that is something that has caught the eye of The Special One. He contributes a lot to the attack and can fall back almost instantly and make key tackles. Sandro is blessed with speed and precision and his energy is something that is unquenchable.
The left back was one of the standout players against Manchester United at Old Trafford and was awarded the Man of the Match too. Mourinho got to witness the Brazilians talents first hand against his own team last night too and since them seems to have his heart set on bringing Sandro to the club.
Bringing in Sandro, especially in January would be an expensive affair. Manchester United would have to spend alot of money as Juventus wont let their star defender go cheap and with Luke Shaw in form and Ashley Young available as an option, signing the ex-Porto man for a hefty sum would not make much sense financially for the club.
Luke Shaw has returned to form and has been one of the best players on the field for the Red Devils and as a reward even got his contract extended until 2023. This shows that the club trusts Shaw and are looking to keep him for the years to come.
Bringing another sought-after player for the same position would undermine the entire process and the entire idea of regular football for the two of them would be shattered.
Signing Alex Sandro for a hefty sum and paying him millions to warm the bench or extending Shaw’s contract and bringing in a high-profile player to play in the same position is something that will undermine the image of the club in the eyes of the players and eventually may cause internal conflicts, something that Jose Mourinho seems to attract wherever he goes.
Will Mourinho still opt to sign the Brazilian in January or will he wait till Summer to make big-name signings?
