Defensive Midfielder- Casemiro- 7.5/10

Similar to those who featured behind him, Casemiro had little work to do except make some textbook and simple challenges to recover the ball off Viktoria Plzen’s players. There is not much that the Brazil international did on what was a very silent night for him. The 26-year-old did score a goal though in the 23rd minute off a corner to make it two for Real Madrid. It was Casemiro’s first goal of the season and the only shimmering instance casting him on a very bland night.

Right Midfielder- Dani Ceballos- 8/10

Dani Ceballos was summoned as a right midfielder by Santiago Solari, who preferred to rest Luka Modric in the Czech Republic. The former Real Betis midfielder made sure that his Croatian teammate’s absence is not felt in the team. Ceballos was beautiful when orchestrating the game and showed some eye-catching footwork when he was on the ball. The 22-year-old is certainly going to impress in the long run, so the fact that he is getting opportunities to warm up for the future is good.

Left Midfielder- Toni Kroos- 9/10

Toni Kroos was one of Real Madrid’s best players against Viktoria Plzen. Kroos scored a goal to finish off a great counter attacking move for Real Madrid, and also assisted Casemiro’s goal with a corner. The German midfielder was extremely sharp on the ball and playing him in an advanced role was certainly a big upgrade by Santiago Solari. Kroos will be vital against Celta Vigo, and hence, he was substituted later on in the match after Real Madrid had the three points in the bag.
