CM: Miralem Pjanic 7/10

This was another odd match where Pjanic’s biggest impact was seemingly defensive. He didn’t create either of Juve’s goals and really didn’t create much of anything in this match. He managed to make 3 tackles and intercept a ball in this match, but he is starting to develop a troubling trend.

Pjanic has averaged almost 10 assists per season in Serie A over the last few years, but right now he has provided 1 in 11 matches. In fact, if it weren’t for 2 penalties against Valencia he would have a disappointing haul of 1 goal and 1 assist in all competitions so far this season. He’ll need to turn things around soon for Juve to really take advantage of the dominant performances they have been putting in this season.

CM: Blaise Matuidi 7/10

Put simply, Blaise Matuidi did what Blaise Matuidi does in this match. He made two tackles and had an interception in the match, but as usual, didn’t do anything that stood out in the match. He’s exactly what he needs to be for Juventus, no more, no less. That was the case again here.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur 7/10

I’m really happy that I didn’t end up needing to write about Sami Khedira in this section. Rodrigo Bentancur has quickly grown into his role as an everyday starter for Juventus and has been a more positive presence for Juve than the ageing German has been this season.

Bentancur was able to make a defensive impact with his 2 tackles and 1 interception and he was the most accurate passer of the 3 starting midfielders for this match. Juve’s starting lineups tend to be a bit on the older side these days, so it’s good to see them give a talented youngster like Bentancur plenty of chances to shine.
