Real Madrid stayed in the hunt for the La Liga Santander after winning 4-2 against Celta Vigo at the Balaidos on Sunday evening.

Real Madrid went within four points of league leaders following their victory over Celta Vigo at the Balaidos on Sunday evening. The Whites put in a brilliant display to get their 4-2 win which was certainly a very hard fought one. It is now four wins on the bounce for Los Blancos and Santiago Solari is closing in on a permanent job at the helm.

Karim Benzema continued his hot form in front of the goal by opening the scoring for the visitors. The 30 year old was once again the advocate for Real Madrid’s second goal, which was given as an own goal from Gustavo Cabral. Celta’s captain Hugo Mallo pulled one back for the Celestes with a well-driven volley.

Sergio Ramos’ penalty made it 3-1 to Madrid and Gustavo Cabral’s challenge on Dani Ceballos resulted in him being sent off. Real Madrid sealed the game from there with an absolute belter from Dani Ceballos. Brais Mendez did help the hosts in getting a second but that could not result in any good.

Let us look at the player ratings from Real Madrid’s win.

Goalkeeper- Thibaut Courtois- 7/10

Thibaut Courtois allowed two goals past him but there was nothing that he could really do about them. He could have done slightly better when dealing with the first, but he was completely wrong-footed by the second that found the back of the net through a wicked deflection. Otherwise, it was a good display by the Belgian that required him to make a couple of decent saves.
