3. There’s no need to make FC Barcelona mad

While Barcelona’s stance on the situation is yet to be revealed, there’s no point in running the risk of making them mad. In case you didn’t know, Neymar played for Barcelona before joining Paris Saint-Germain, so there could be some sentimental issues should Real Madrid sign their former player.

Of course, given Barcelona’s league position, they shouldn’t be worrying about Real Madrid. However, to see them sign Neymar would only make them more encouraged to strengthen even more and make the gap between the two Spanish sides even more prominent.

Barcelona sits top of La Liga, and although their form looks to be tailing off, they are still the dominant side in Spain. This was emphasised by their huge 5-1 victory in the last El Clasico. Real Madrid is a side who doesn’t want to be embarrassed, but Barcelona is the only side who can embarrass them.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez feel like they have a special connection with Neymar. That said, if they see him join their most hated club, then they aren’t going to be happy bunnies. They will do everything in their power to make his time at Real Madrid a misery.

Personally, I don’t think Barcelona as a club will be too bothered if Madrid sign Neymar. However, I do think it will take its toll on the players. And even the slightest inconvenience to these stars is a risk which Real Madrid should look to avoid at all costs.
