Inconsistent forms of every player in the squad

Each one of the squad’s players has been facing inconsistencies in their forms this season. While Julen Lopetegui was rightly criticized for the team’s poor form during his days as the manager, the Eibar performance suggested a big lapse in the players’ presentations following four successive wins.

Luka Modric, the holder of the FIFA Best Player Award and a candidate to the Ballon d’Or was instrumental for the Whites in each of their last three UEFA Champions League triumphs and did very well for Croatia in the FIFA World Cup. However, he too has struggled to keep up with his form.

Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane are looking just about decent but they are nowhere close to being the world’s best pairing of central defenders. The likes of Rudiger-Luiz, van Dijk-Gomez and many others are outperforming the Real Madrid duo. What’s worse is that injuries and off-field issues are psychologically impacting them.

Young players like Vinicius Junior have stepped up in the recent matches and signal that the future is bright, but then guys like Marco Asensio show their susceptibilities and poor runs of form by scoring only twice in the course of the season till date. That is not what you expect of a player who was going to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo.

And finally, just let alone Karim Benzema for once and not make him the scapegoat. The Frenchman has been in the goals sparingly for Real Madrid and had 10 for himself, but there should have been more from his side. Nonetheless, Benzema is doing a decent job, but his counterpart Gareth Bale has been abysmal.
