Eden Hazard is the subject of discussion at Chelsea. Will he stay or will he go?

Chelsea fans know how great Eden Hazard is. They have witnessed his fine displays countless times across the last few seasons. However, with his contract expiry nearing (summer 2020), they may be fearing the worst.

English football outlets have been stirring the pot, obviously. However, there’s only one man we should be listening to in this scenario, and that’s Eden Hazard. This is why it’s good to see he’s spoken about the situation, courtesy of Goal.

Paris Saint-Germain isn’t the destination.

"“There have been contacts in the past with PSG but I haven’t been tempted. If I have to go back to France one day, it would be in Lille.” – Eden Hazard"

Here, Hazard dismisses the claims linking him with Paris Saint-Germain. As the French giants look for potential Neymar/Mbappe replacements, Hazard’s name was bound to pop up. Those two wingers are up there with Hazard in terms of world quality, so it was inevitable.

Pledging his loyalties to his former club Lille isn’t exactly the information Chelsea fans were looking for. However, he did touch on his contract situation, with the news not being the best.

He refuses to rule out a Chelsea move.

"“For now, like I said, I’m staying at Chelsea. I have one year left on my contract this year. Moving this Winter is impossible. It will be possible in the summer, but it’s also possible that I stay my whole career at Chelsea.” – Eden Hazard"

It’s quite clever from Hazard. He didn’t give any indication that leaving is at the forefront of his mind. However, he did say that it’s possible. To be honest, drawing conclusions from this quote is very subjective, so I will allow you to draw your own conclusions.

Hazard will not be leaving in the January transfer window, he’s made that clear. This means that Chelsea can look forward and challenge in the Premier League and the Europa League. Losing their star player throughout the season could have had detrimental impacts, so it’s good that Hazard recognised this.

Hazard is going through a run of bad form currently. He got off to an excellent start under Maurizio Sarri, being an early contender for the player of the year. However, it feels like he hasn’t done anything special in a long time now, which is unlike him.

Do you think Eden Hazard will spend the rest of his football career with Chelsea?
