Left Winger- Gareth Bale- 8/10

After some dismal matches under his belt over the last few weeks, Gareth Bale suddenly turned up on the big stage and did functionally well. The former Southampton player exploited Alessandro Florenzi with his quick pace down the left hand side and scored Real Madrid’s first goal on the night. Bale also did well with Karim Benzema and was deservedly given an ovation by the Real Madrid faithful present in Rome. If the Welshman wants to prove that he can succeed Ronaldo, he has to play this way and even better consistently.

Striker- Karim Benzema- 7.5/10

Playing Karim Benzema in a central striker’s role when he is a target man has been beneficial for both, Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari. The Frenchman has struck 10 times this season and looks a lot more present in the box to bury the chances. Benzema’s danger was recognized by the Roma coach and he perfectly addressed it by keeping Manolas and Fazio both on him. Nonetheless, Benzema chipped in with an assist for Lucas Vazquez for the Whites’ second on the day.

Right Winger- Lucas Vazquez- 8/10

Lucas Vazquez was on target for the Whites in the second half to cap off a wonderful individual display. The Spain international was not called up in the last two weeks by Luis Enrique and was rested by Solari against Eibar. Vazquez was full of injury against Roma and put in a defensive shift as well to nullify Kolarov. While the physiques of are contrasting, Vazquez used his intelligence to keep the former City left back at bay. He also threatened when going forward like he always does.
