Midfielder- Denis Suarez- 5/10

Denis Suarez is one of Barcelona’s players who are furthest down in the pecking order, but Ernesto Valverde did turn to the former Villarreal loanee to feature as a substitute though it was just for ten minutes.

More from FC Barcelona

Denis Suarez made his first appearance of the season in this season’s UEFA Champions League campaign. He completed 3 passes out of the 4 he attempted across 10 minutes on the field and did not really look present in the play. But you cannot expect a lot from a guy who barely plays for the team.

Forward- Malcom Oliviera- 6/10

Barcelona winger Malcom made his second European appearance and got 20 minutes on the pitch to try and repeat his goal scoring feat from three weeks ago in Milan. The former Bordeaux winger came on for his compatriot Philippe Coutinho and was basically installed in to help in keeping the ball and see the game off, which Barcelona eventually did but after a little scare from the hosts. Malcom has been playing well of late and the Copa del Rey match next week will be a good determinant of his true quality.

Manager- Ernesto Valverde- 7/10

Not much can be spoken about the manager after his side’s functional display and win in a European game, but Valverde did manage the team well except the fact that he did not even make a third substitution. Many people including myself were expecting Gerard Pique to rest, but the defender did end up playing and his inclusion was a blessing for Barcelona as Pique got a goal.
