Well, North London is red. What a performance that was from Arsenal. But how well did Unai Emery’s men fare against their arch-rivals Tottenham?

Arsenal came up against Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium today. Heading into this match, many neutral fans were beginning to favour Tottenham given the team selection by Unai Emery. However, the players selected for Arsenal proved them wrong, as the home side won the game impressively.

Aubamyeang opened the scoring from the spot in the opening spot. It was a handball from Jan Vertonghen which gifted the Gabon international a chance to score. It was his first goal for Arsenal against a top-six side but he saved that feat for the right moment.

Then, later on in the half, Son-Heung Min released his inner Neymar. And no, I don’t mean his tricks or winning major honours. He dived for both decisions, the first being a freekick which Eric Dier capitalised on and the second being a penalty scored by Harry Kane.

It was easy for Arsenal to lose their heads after this but they didn’t. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang capitalised on his earlier-found confidence by converting a fine curled effort. Then, Alexandre Lacazette scored a goal in the opposite corner, both of them were assisted by Aaron Ramsey.

With the score at 3-2, Lucas Torreira wanted to get in on the act, and that he did. He scored a fine, composed finish but the celebration will stick with the Gunners most. Yep, he took off his shirt but boy was it worth it.

Anyway, enough of the recap… How did the Gunners’ perform?

GK: Bernd Leno – 6.5/10

He could have done a lot better for the first goal, but I’m not going to dwell on that. He put in a good performance, saving Arsenal on a few occasions. There was a moment in the second half which I liked; he released his inner Manuel Neuer by coming way out of his box to contest for a ball, which he won. Overall, Leno should be happy with this performance.
