Juventus player ratings vs Fiorentina: Bentancur impresses again, Ronaldo streak continues
By John Vaccaro
LB: Joao Cancelo 7.5/10
Joao Cancelo showed once again in the match against Fiorentina that it doesn’t matter where he’s playing because he’ll play well no matter what. He started at left back due to Alex Sandro’s injury and he was impressive there again. He was able to make a couple of tackles in the match and was dangerous going forward, sending in quite a few crosses even though nothing came from any of them. He has now reached the point that the argument isn’t about whether he’s the best right back in Serie A, but whether he’s the best full back.
CB: Giorgio Chiellini 8.5/10
Giorgio Chiellini isn’t exactly know for his finishing ability, but he took advantage of his opportunity on Saturday. His volley was too well struck for Lafont to keep out even after he got a hand on it. On top of that he had 2 tackles, an interception, and 4 clearances in the match and was responsible for making Giovanni Simeone’s chance in the first half awkward enough for him to not finish. It was another great day for the Juve captain and the finish on his goal will be sure to make some strikers jealous.
CB: Leonardo Bonucci 7.5/10
Leonardo Bonucci played his best match in recent memory against Fiorentina. He didn’t make any glaring mistakes over the course of the match and was able to make 5 interceptions and 3 clearances. It was better than we have seen from him in a while. Hopefully he can keep it up.
RB: Mattia De Sciglio 7.5/10
Mattia De Sciglio played well in another replacement appearance. He doesn’t offer the attacking ability that Sandro or Cancelo do, but he has been able to offer plenty defensively when he has been called on. He made 6 tackles and an interception in this match, making life difficult for Federico Chiesa. It was another performance that will make Juve feel comfortable with their depth at full back.
