The winners of a combined 54 Scudetti will meet in Torino as Juventus and Inter Milan do battle for the 239th time.

Juventus has a massive edge in the Derby d’Italia, having 108 times compared just 73 wins for Inter Milan. They have also outscored Inter by a total of 340 to 295.

Historically these teams have both been extremely successful. Juve has won 36 (yes, 36) of the 54 combined Scudetti between these teams, but it is Inter that arguably has the edge in the most important category. Inter has won 3 Champions League titles compared to only 2. However, Inter hasn’t had such a great run since their last Champions League win in 2010.

They had gone 7 years without appearing in the Champions League until returning this season. They also haven’t won a Scudetto since that season where they became the first Italian team to complete a treble. They need to turn things around quickly if they hope to end either of those runs this season. They are currently 11 points back in Serie A and in 3rd in their Champions League group with one match to play.

Juventus has gone in the opposite direction lately, winning the last 7 Scudetti, making the Champions League final 2 of the last 4 years and currently leading both their Champions League group and Serie A. Their 8 point at the top of Serie A has them in a prime position to defend their title yet again.

With the success of these two massive clubs both historically and recently, a combined 11 would be a formidable force.
