LB: Alex Sandro

Alex Sandro is Serie A’s best left back. It’s been true since his second season with Juve and he has continued to prove it this season. He has averaged 2.2 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per match and teams have had a very difficult time trying to develop any kind of an attack down the left wing. He has also been a nuisance for opposing defense when he has gone forward and has contributed 2 assists this season, including creating the winner in the season opener. It’s been another great year for Sandro.

CB: Giorgio Chiellini

The Juventus captain continues to get it done at 34 years old. He has spent this season shutting down opposing strikers and cleaning up Leonardo Bonucci’s mistakes. The Juve defense has gotten into the habit of falling apart any time Chiellini is given a rest this season, but with him in the starting lineup they have been Serie A’s best defense and one of the world’s best defenses. He even scored a goal of his own this past weekend. As long as he keeps playing at this level any defense he is a part of will be tough to score against.

CB: MIlan Skriniar

Milan Skriniar has continued to develop into one of Serie A’s most formidable center backs this season. His 2 tackles and extremely impressive 3.9 clearances per match have made life difficult for most attacks that have come up against Inter this year. The idea that Inter will have a player of Skriniar’s quality for years to come should be a scary thought for strikers around the league. Skriniar and Chiellini would be one hell of a center back pairing.

RB: Joao Cancelo

This one will hurt for Inter fans. They had an option to buy Joao Cancelo at the end of last year’s loan spell, but were unable to trigger that option because of a lack of funds. Now he is quickly building a case that he may be Serie A’s best full back. He has been locking down the right side of the field throughout the stadium including slowing down Lorenzo Insigne, who had been absolutely dominant coming into that match. This squad has two great fullbacks at its disposal and Juve will be tough to beat on the outside for as long as they wear the black and white stripes.
