CM: Rodrigo Bentancur

Rodrigo Bentancur has been one of the biggest surprises of the season. At the start of the year it looked like he would struggle to find playing time in Juve’s midfield, but some injury issues and Juve making the mistake of letting Claudio Marchisio go have opened up a great opportunity for Bentancur. He absolutely hasn’t let that opportunity go to waste. His introduction to the starting lineup has greatly strengthened the squad as his well-rounded skill set has turned made the midfield more complete.

He has strengthened the midfield defensively with his 1.8 tackles and 1.7 interceptions per and he has provided much more going forward than Sami Khedira and Emre Can were before him. His two goals have come at great times for Juve, opening the scoring against Udinese and Fiorentina. A couple of months ago I wouldn’t have even thought he’d break Juve’s top 3 in the midfield, but now it would be hard to keep him out of a Juve combined 11.

CM: Miralem Pjanic

We haven’t seen Miralem Panic at his best so far this season, but he is still a great playmaker in the midfielder. Over his years in Serie A he has consistently hung around the top of the league assist charts. However, this season he has struggled to make that final pass to unlock the defense. This is probably due in part to Ronaldo taking over free kick duties, which is a mistake. Even though his numbers his number haven’t quite depicted it this season he is still one of the league’s most talented midfielders. He would be a great piece of this midfield.

CM: Marcelo Brozovic

Marcelo Brozovic’s performances this season have been a big reason why Inter is currently in 3rd place in Serie A. He has been great on both ends of the field, averaging 3.3 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, and 1.4 key passes per match. Brozovic has arguably been the second most important player to this squad’s success, only behind Icardi. When Inter brought in Radja Nainggolan it was believed that he would be the centerpiece of the midfield, but that has clearly been Brozovic this season.
