Real Madrid midfielder Isco has been eyed by Arsenal but their interest has never really progressed to an advanced stage. The Spaniard will be a top signing, though.

Real Madrid midfielder Isco seems to have fallen out of favour with newly appointed manager Santiago Solari. The Spain international has barely played 100 minutes since the 42-year-old’s succession to Julen Lopetegui and there is certainly something fishy between the player and his boss, especially after Isco was left out of the entire 18 man squad during Madrid’s trip to Roma in spite of travelling to the Italian capital.

And just like the way these circumstances normally pan out, links to foreign clubs have already started and Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are all thought to be in the running for the midfielder’s signatures. While Isco will definitely be a huge asset to any of the Premier League’s top clubs, my personal opinion is that he and Arsenal is a match that has been made in heaven.

It was back in 2010 that the Gunners’ manager Unai Emery handed Isco his first senior appearance in the colours of Valencia. Eight years hence, the Real Madrid playmaker has gone on to add numerous accolades to his name in addition to the four UEFA Champions League winners’ medals.  What’s more, he has also finished in the top 30 of the Ballon d’Or standings for the calendar year, 2018!

Since Emery has taken over at Arsenal, several signings have been made whereas players like Aubameyang, Lacazette and Mesut Ozil are absolutely enjoying life. There have been alterations and there will certainly be some more in the month of January and next summer. But the biggest positive that the former Paris Saint-Germain boss has gotten in is the results, and Arsenal have put together a run of 19 matches unbeaten ahead of their visit to Man United.

Having come under the top four and finally looking pretty good in the back and front, Unai Emery is possibly one central defender and creative midfielder away from realistically challenging for the Premier League with Manchester City, who are surely going to be right up there for at least the next two seasons in my guess. So for the Spanish manager, there is no creative player better to bring in than Isco.

The 26-year-old is one of the world’s best playmakers and can play in an array of positions in the centre of the park. While obviously the attacking midfielder’s role is his preferred and favourite, Isco can also play from deep down and make plays for the Gunners. Given that he will have the freedom to roam freely will help Emery get the best out of Isco, whereas the forwards will get top class service from him inside the box.
