Rodrigo Bentancur will turn out to be a super signing for Barcelona
Barcelona is keen on strengthening their midfielder by signing Uruguay international Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus next year.
Barcelona is looking to sign to replace Sergio Busquets now that he is 30 years old in the next few years. The Catalans know how good their current defensive midfielder is and they may also be aware of the fact that there is no in-house option who can inherit the position from the formidable Sergio Busquets.
As a result, the best option for Barcelona is to invest in a young and promising player from some other top club. Young age, as well as experience, are the two criteria which the Spanish champions are looking to come to close ends with, and with respect to that, Calcio Mercato has reported that Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been identified as an option.

Injuries in Turin to the likes of Sami Khedira and Emre Can over the course of this year have opened the door for a starting berth for Bentancur in Massimiliano Allegri’s setup. The Uruguay international has grabbed his opportunity gleefully with both hands and is certainly making an impact at the Allianz Stadium.
Juventus are absolutely pleased with the way things are panning out for Rodrigo Bentancur and see him as a real person to be at the club for a long time. And hence, the Old Lady’s main aim is to get rid of the release clause that is present on his contract which would allow them to demand as much money as they want from his suitors and not give 50% of the earning to Bentancur’s ex-club Boca Juniors.
There is certainly no intent in the head of Max Allegri and the Juventus chiefs to get rid of the 21-year-old, but there will surely be offers if his progress continues on a positive slope. Bentancur had offers from Atletico Madrid last summer which were rebuffed, and La Vecchia Signora might want to do the same from Barcelona, who are likely to come talking with a check of 60 million euros.
Losing Rodrigo Bentancur will come as a big blow to Il Bianconeri, especially with the age factor being kept in mind. The core midfielders at Turin are all nearing their 30s and so, Bentancur is somebody who can nail onto a starting berth and be the focus very shortly. Plus, his versatility is a bonus.
On the other hand, Barcelona shall have dividends coming their way with the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur, who is certainly a bargain at 60 million euros. The Uruguayan has surely gotten a decade more left under his belt and the fact that he has played in the big Champions League matches and the World Cup could give Barcelona’s defensive line some solace about having Rodrigo ahead of it.
Having said that, Ivan Rakitic is also nearing his twilight and there is no attempt from Ernesto Valverde at least to help Denis Suarez grab that role. Therefore, Rodrigo Bentancur’s multifaceted nature will once again come into play. Moreover, the South American connection next to Arthur could even help in a good chemistry.
Is Bentancur the right man for Barcelona? How much should Juventus charge for his services?
