It seemed like this transfer saga was never-ending but it could finally come to a close.
Eden Hazard is one of the best players in the Premier League. He got off to an excellent start this term with Chelsea, however, his form has tailed off recently. Still, it’s not hindered Real Madrid’s decision to pursue a move for him. Los Blancos have been consistently linked with a move for the Belgian international and this season is no different.
According to AS, the club and player have finally agreed on personal terms. While this isn’t the be-all or end-all, it is a huge step in the right direction for Real Madrid. All they need to do now is meet Chelsea’s valuation, which could grow gradually less as Hazard’s contract runs out in 2020.
Real Madrid should pay every penny.

Eden Hazard is truly special. He’s proven that time and time again with Chelsea. Watching him on the ball is a real delight so I can only imagine what he would bring to Spanish soil.
Real Madrid is still looking to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, don’t forget. Gareth Bale doesn’t look capable of taking on such a role and with doubts surrounding his future, it’s important that Madrid invest heavily in this position. They can’t afford to fall further and further apart from their La Liga rivals Barcelona.
With Santiago Solari at the helm, at least momentarily, Madrid are looking to strengthen for the future. With Hazard ageing at 27 years old, there’s never been a better time to sign him. For Chelsea though, it will be a whole other story…
Chelsea can’t afford to lose Eden Hazard.
The other side of the story is rather different. With Real Madrid giving their all to acquire Eden Hazard, it will be Chelsea who put all of their efforts into keeping him. Under Maurizio Sarri, he has shown many signs of promise, so for Chelsea to lose that so suddenly would be a real kick to the teeth.
AS also reported that Sarri is eager to keep him but only if he wants to say. This could be perceived as positive news because it shows that Sarri is willing to replace Hazard should he leave. At the end of the day, the club will always be bigger than the player.
It will be interesting to see how this rumour pans out. AS are quite often reliable so I’m not going to rule this one out.
Where do you think Eden Hazard will be playing next season?
