CM: Rodrigo Bentancur 7/10

Rodrigo Bentancur had a chance to make this another standout performance in his breakout season, but a good block from and Inter defender prevented him from opening the scoring for Juve. Other than that his most memorable moments were two hard tackles that were both unfortunately called fouls and one of which earned him a yellow card. He made a few nice passes that didn’t turn into much and could’ve potentially extended the lead if Costa had looked his way on a breakaway, but in the end, it was Bentancur’s first pedestrian performance we’ve seen in some time. He’ll get a chance to start impressing again when Juve meets Young Boys on Wednesday.

CM: Miralem Pjanic 6.5/10

Bentancur wasn’t the only midfielder whose performance didn’t quite live up to their usual standard. He is supposed to be Juve’s creator in the midfield, but he never looked like he was going to make anything good happen in this match. His set-piece delivery was a disappointment. He didn’t even make a meaningful defensive contribution to make up for his attacking performance. It was a rough day for Pjanic.

CM: Blaise Matuidi 7/10

Blaise Matuidi wasn’t great in this match, but he did what he does best. He played great defense, making 4 tackles and 2 interceptions and helped Juve stop Inter from getting many clear chances during the stretches of the match where they dominated possession. He even had some bright moments on the attacking end. This match perfectly represented Matuidi’s time with Juventus. There were players who were more impressive in the match, but his constant hustle made a difference for Juve when they needed it. He’ll rarely be the guy everybody is talking about after a match, but Matuidi will always be a positive presence for Juve.
