Real Madrid have to stop walking tightly on a cliff every now and then

While Real Madrid have managed to dig out narrow wins of late, the performance against Huesca was a total rip off from the Whites.

Football is a game of results, and nobody gives credit to what one deserves or does not deserve in the modern day. And to be frank, if there is somebody who is an expert at pulling out results in spite of being lacklustre, it is nobody other than 13 time European champions Real Madrid C.F.

Los Blancos were once again the subject of something similar when they dispatched aside SD Huesca over the last weekend with a 1-0 win. To say the least, they were horrible. Gareth Bale’s shot found the back of the net, whereas three attempts from the hosts were all denied by a Thibaut Courtois who stood tall throughout the evening.

More from Real Madrid

After 100 days, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale scored a goal in the league and Santiago Solari has been having Lady Luck favouring him along with the results. The Huesca match was a perfect example of that, but the question is- how much longer can Real Madrid continue to ride on their luck and walk tightly on a cliff?

That is exactly what cost Julen Lopetegui his job at Real Madrid. The poor old man did not have any fortune by his side and was axed of his duties within just four months. Having won seven of his eight matches in charge of the club, Santiago Solari however, is steadily becoming a favourite and with the Club World Cup close by, winning that would only increase his track record.

However, at a club of Real Madrid’s standards, things have to change soon and they cannot ride their luck and walk a tightrope every week. Now that Cristiano Ronaldo is gone, a quality forward needs to come in to kill matches soon. Something needs to be done, an identity needs to be added to the game and a ship still encountering turbulence needs to be steadied.
