Barcelona are looking to plot a shocking move to bring in Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany to the Camp Nou on a free transfer.
Barcelona are interested in recruiting a central defender as backup to Clement Lenglet, Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti soon. While there have been indications that there could be an arrival in the month of January, the Catalans would not mind waiting if they are going to get one of the world’s best defenders.
The Spanish champions are looking to make a move for Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany, as per the Daily Mail. Kompany’s contract at the Etihad Stadium comes to an end when the 2018/19 season finishes. There has been no talk of a fresh deal as yet and legally, the Belgium international can start talking to foreign clubs from January.

Vincent Kompany arrived at Manchester City from Anderlecht 10 years ago for a transfer fee of just 6.5 million pounds. He has gone on to become the club’s captain over the last few years and has racked up several medals around his neck including three of the Premier League having won it in 2012, 2014 and 2018.
However, the 2018/19 season is not going in the best possible manner for the Man City legend and far from what he may have hoped for. Pep Guardiola has turned to Aymeric Laporte and John Stones as his first choice options in the centre of defence thereby limiting Kompany’s appearances to just 11 this season.
The 32-year-old is undoubtedly a fan favourite in the city of Manchester and there is still optimism in Pep and Khaldoon Al Mubarak’s offices about him signing a new contract especially with the player’s representatives willing to wait until the end of the season. But, Kompany’s potential move to Barcelona could be fruitful as well.
In the twilight of his career, the Belgian centre back could get a chance to write his name in the books of Barcelona and also extend his trophy cabinet after winning literally everything possible with Manchester City on a domestic level. In addition to that, the fact that he could arrive for free is more than good news for Barcelona.
